This Privacy Policy explains how Runstr ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our subscription fundraising Platform at runstr.com (the "Platform").
This policy is designed to be clear and straightforward, reflecting our core values of transparency in funding and commitment to Children's Privacy (COPPA) compliance given our focus on K-12 students. By using our Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information based on your user role to provide and improve our service, process subscriptions, and fulfill our mission to fund schools.
A. Student/Creator Data (PII): We collect this information from the student and their parent/guardian upon account creation:
Identity & Contact: First and Last Name, Email Address, and School Affiliation.
Verification: Verifiable Parental or Legal Guardian Contact Information (Name, Email, Phone) as required for COPPA compliance for users under 18.
Profile Data: Grade level, academic/extracurricular interests, and profile image.
Content: User-Generated Content (UGC) including posts, photos, and videos shared with Subscribers.
B. Supporter/Subscriber Data (PII & Financial): We collect this information from individuals who pay for a subscription:
Identity & Contact: First and Last Name, Email Address, Billing Address.
Payment Data: Payment instrument type, last four digits, expiration date, and transaction details. (Full payment card numbers are processed and secured by a third-party payment processor and are not stored directly by Runstr).
C. School/District Data (Organizational):
Contact & Administration: School/District Name, Mailing Address, Tax ID, Designated Administrator/Financial Contact Name and Email, and Bank Account details for fund disbursement.
D. Non-Personally Identifiable Information (Usage Data):
Technical Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and pages visited.
Analytics: Information regarding platform usage, such as time spent on posts, interaction with features, and subscription conversion rates.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data for the following purposes:
To Operate the Platform: To manage user accounts, provide access to subscription content, and process student UGC.
To Process Payments & Fund Transfers: To collect subscription fees from Supporters, deduct the $5 Platform Fee, and transfer the remaining funds directly to the affiliated School's bank account.
To Facilitate Reporting and Transparency: To provide Schools with aggregated reports on fundraising activity and performance metrics.
To Ensure Safety and Compliance: To verify parental consent for minor accounts and enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines.
To Communicate: To send account updates, receipts, service announcements, and marketing materials (with an opt-out).
4. Children's Privacy and COPPA Compliance
The Runstr Platform is a general audience service, but a substantial portion of our users are K-12 students, many of whom are under the age of 13.
Verifiable Parental Consent: For any Student/Creator under the age of 18, we require a verifiable form of parental or guardian consent before the student can create a public-facing profile or post any UGC. For children under 13, this consent process strictly adheres to the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Parental Rights: Parents or legal guardians have the right to review the Personal Information collected from their child, refuse to permit further collection or use of that information, and request the deletion of their child's account and information. 5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
Your trust is our most important asset. We do not sell your Personal Information to third parties. We only share information as necessary to operate the Platform and fulfill our mission:
With Schools: We share necessary student identifiers (e.g., student name and associated funds) and aggregated fundraising data with the affiliated School for accounting, auditing, and reporting purposes related to the funds received.
With Supporters/Subscribers: When a Supporter subscribes, we share their name with the Student/Creator (and their School) for recognition and transparency.
Service Providers: We share information with trusted third-party service providers (e.g., payment processors, hosting services, analytics) only as necessary for them to perform their services on our behalf. They are prohibited from using your PII for any other purpose.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations, protect our rights, or ensure the safety of our users.

We implement commercially acceptable security measures designed to protect your Personal Information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your Personal Information.
